Why I shouldn't stay up past my bedtime...

So, I recently read a post from needle n thread on damp blocking embroidery. Since I tend to iron in more wrinkles than I take out and take a ridiculously long amount of time doing so, I decided to give this a whirl. Once I got off of work, I finally found a cork board hidden in the card aisle of Walmart. I proudly carried my scavenger hunt prize to the front, checked out, and continued on my quest for the needed supplies to accomplish such a task. I decided to swing by Dollar Tree next just to browse for a bit. Usually they're still closed when I get off work, but since a late call put us getting off 2 hours late, I decided to look at the late call as a fortuitous occurrence and make the most of it! As I meandered throughout the store I saw it: a pink glistening spray bottle! Oh glorious sight! Especially since I forgot this was one of the needed items... and you know, its all pink and sparkly! 'Nough said! So I finished up there, finished my other errands, and then returned home where I finally marked a few to-dos off my list. (I might've-sort've-accidentally- unintentionally also taken a 15 min cat nap...) At a rather late hour, I unfortunately decided that it was now the time to try out this new technique. So I fearlessly gathered my cork board, push pins, and spray bottle. Sprawled out on my closet floor, a.k.a. my craft room, I did my best version of the whole following-of-instructions thing. Then came the time to use the spray bottle. I cheerfully filled it up and proceeded to attempt to use it. I can honestly say, I don't believe that I have ever struggled so much with such a simple task. Once I finally figured out my new buddy's quirks, I then sprayed the tacked-on piece. Only instead of a mist, it was a stream. When I attempted to figure out why, I ended up doing my best impersonation of a cat playing in a water fountain by putting its paw in the stream until it redirects the water into its face. Yup, definitely a pure me moment! After removing myself from the ceiling and drying my face off, I noticed that there is only one hole in the nozzle. Ok, simple fix. I'll just find a way to make more holes. Easy peazy. Well, after locating my hammer and a small nail, I successfully made more holes without insulting my phalanges too terribly much. As I carefully, and quite proudly, surveyed my handiwork, I decided that a fine mist was out  of the question, but a mist-ish result was very well possible and would do just fine. Well, as I excitedly went to spray my needlework again, I realized that the drops coming out were a bit... well.. chunky. I determinedly decided that that is perfectly alright. After all, I'm a bit chunky myself! I decided to attempt a few more holes in the hopes that more water would end up on the stitchery than my hands and the carpet. I am, after all, nothing short of determined. Or down right bull headed stubborn when I get the notion. I personally prefer determined; it has a much nicer ring to it. I quickly accomplished this task and returned to test it out
again. Slight difference, but still chunky drops. I can honestly say that I never thought I would need to tell water droplets that they need to slim up a bit! That's all of my tale for now! Here's hoping for good results in the morning. I'll let youns know either way. Now, I'm off to bed before I become anymore dangerous (determined) than I already am!
Happy stitching to any insomniac readers; to the rest, sweet dreams & good night!

Music

So, I listen to a very wide variety of music; anything from Matthew West to oldies to Owl City and so on and so forth. Except rap and hard rock. Just not a fan. But one thing is for certain; when I’m doing housework, 99/100 I’m listening to some of the music from my childhood’s favorite movies. Cause you just can’t be angry about how many dirty dishes there are or  despair over how muddy the floor is when you’re singing along to Hakuna Matata. Try it- you’ll see for yourself!
Happy Stitching (and cleaning 😄)!

Better Prize Pics

I also found out that I like using washers as the backs better than the low powered magnet; I’ll include both with each set , so the winners can use whichever they like better. :)

It’s been a day...

Upon entering, you see three females sitting in their respective spots in the living room.
Person #1 dismally: I accidentally scraped the side of the ambulance against an ill-placed post causing minute damage and had to pee in a cup.
Person #2 irritated: I failed a test today.
Person #3 bitterly: I accidentally walked into the men’s bathroom at a restaurant.
*Sudden burst of laughter from all three. *
Person #1 and Person #2 gleefully to Person #3: “You win!”

Prize Pics!

1st Winner’s Prize:

2nd Winner’s Prize:

I’ll try to get a higher quality picture of each tomorrow; the lighting is dismal at best right now. :)

Surprise!

Ok, so I kinda-sort-accidentally left the backs of the surprise at home. Long story short, I have 2 sets of needle minders that I will be using as the prizes of a giveaway, one per winner. Here's the catch; this is my first time making needle minders, so if one of the winners has any recommendations on improving them, that would be greatly appreciated! And for those that are kind enough to read that don't stitch; no worries. You can use these just like normal magnets; just pull the back off and wah-lah (I really don't know if that is how it is spelled- oh well!) you get two magnets out of one! So, here's the rules:
1. You must comment on this post.
2. Please include some sort of name, be it; first name and state, blog name, nickname, full name, etc.      I just need some form of  an identifier to know who to contact.
3. Please answer: What is your favorite thing about Spring or Easter?
4. Only one entry per person, please.
5. Please have your entry in prior to Sat. March 21 at 09:30 for it to count.
This is my first time doing a giveaway, so it will be a bit of trial and error on my part. As such, please be patient. I will draw the winners via some form of random drawing on Saturday (probably morning)  and will contact the winners for their addresses so I can mail them as quickly as possible. Also, please do not include your personal information in the comment; I don't want to be the cause of anyone being spammed, stalked, etc. As long as you have an account or whatever it is called via Blogger, then I should be able to contact you. If not, I will mention the winner in a post and have him/her contact me. I apologize for the lack of pictures; these particular designs are not listed on my Etsy shop yet and I haven't taken any pictures yet. I will try to get pictures up tomorrow ASAP. Now that all of the rules and such are out of the way, GOOD LUCK!

Spring is here!!!!!!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s officially spring!!! And that Easter is just around the corner...   Is anyone else out there perpetually running behind? It seems like the faster I try to scramble to get caught up and *gasp* ahead, the more behind I get.
Well, I was crazy or dumb enough (still not sure which) to pick up a 12 hr shift at work tomorrow, so hopefully we won’t be too busy. If we’re not too busy, and if I can get my act together, I’ll have a surprise for youns tomorrow! Lord willin’ and the creeks don’t rise, that’s my plan! Youns have a great night and thank you for reading!

Lately

I apologiv\ze for my lack of chatter the past few days; I've been trying to figure out how to best deal with some things at work. Maybe someday adults will learn to be adults. Enough on that; on to happier things! Here's my progress up to this point:

On a totally unrelated note, am I the only one that thinks this looks like a shocked alien?
Earlier this evening, Banjo came to the back door. When I told him to smile, this is what the dork did:

There was a whole bunch of pictures, but these were the best. That goofy dog has so many different grins he will do. He's very entertaining! Well, I have work tomorrow, so I'll leave youns in peace and try to get my hiney in bed at decent time tonight. Here's hoping that tomorrow holds lots of stitchy time for you and me!
Good night and happy stitching!

Progress

Since I have to stay after work when my shift finishes on Thurs morning for mandatory training (Please note, I don't wanna!!!! Insert whiny 2 year old throwing a tantrum sounds here), I decided to make today my stitchy relaxing day as an incentive to resist the urge to grouch about lack of stitching that day. On my last shift, I decided to start this:

"He is Risen" by Lolita Made. That's the bit of progress I've made thus far.
"The Bee" from Mulberry Folk Art has had a lot more progress so far.

For some reason it is going much faster and far more enjoyable than when I first started it. I stiched one quite some time ago and loved every second with the exception of the "knotty" moments. This time is different since I used a thinner muslim material for its more primitive look. However, it has been going well the past few days. Ms. Fiona is a bit under the weather, so I had to get a review from a different critic today.
Like a lot of small children, Ruthie decided that the best way to help her mother recuperate was by diving on top of her sleeping mother and then sit on top of her as her conqueror. Ruthie: "I'm helping Mommy feel better. Do you think poptarts mixed with choclate, popcorn, peanut butter, and maple syrup would be good for upset stomach?
So, without further ado, here is Mr. Poop Emoji. (And for the record, calling him a poophead does not go over very well. Just sayin')
Mr. Poop's review, and I quote, was "Those both look like poo poo with a dash of caca!" Coming from him, I'm not really sure if that is a compliment or an insult. Anyhow, that's my progress report  for today. I have made several floss changes with "He is Risen" because I'm missing a few of the called for flosses and some of my substitutes did not play nice with the others. Hmmm, maybe I'm related to them. I can play just fine with most people as long as they don't have dumb ideas, come up with a good idea when I draw a blank, and agree with all of my ideas. Just kidding! ;) Since the new colors are still pretty up in the air, I'll wait until its all decided before I list them. Please feel free to comment on your current projects; I would love to see what youns are working on!

Yippee!

i have threads now!!!!! Aren’t they purty? ;)
Well, those plus the all of the others I had stuck in a work bag. There’s like 4 bags of random threads and I have no clue what patterns I intended to use them with. Now, to decide which of the new patterns to stitch! Decisions, decisions... :)

For the record

hiccups while exercising are not fun in the least. Talk about adding insult to injury! Now that my threads are happily on their way to me, I can stop pouting at my own nincompoopiness. So, without further ado, here’s the WIP I plan to work on:

Good Grief, Charlie Brown

I hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday! I’m currently sprawled out on my bed at work listening to the birds chirp through my cracked open window as I type this-how’s THAT for a run on sentence?!? Not bad for how gloomy it is outside. I’ve really missed open windows, so I’ll put up with the coolness for a bit! So, I was all excited today as I gathered up my stitchy supplies and everything else I bring to work since I decided to start a new pattern to alternate stitching with a WIP. I thought it would be fun to do. I enjoy the pattern the WIP is from, just not the fabric, so the new start could be an occasional treat for not mutilating the thin fabric of the WIP. Eh, I think we both know I’ll probably ignore the WIP and just focus on the new start, but, hey, it’s worth a try! Anyhow,  I proudly carried it all inside the station and didn’t give it much thought until after church (my partner is kind enough to take me whenever we work a Sunday; my boss and boss’ boss are ok with this arrangement since my church is in the same town. Plus it keeps me from getting grouchy. I know, I know, we’re suppose to do our best to live as the Lord wants us to, but missing church still makes me a bit irritable no matter how hard I try). As I started debating which new pattern I should start, I realized I had left my floss box sitting forlornly on the floor at- you guessed it- home. Thankfully, my family agreed to bring it to me tonight before they attend the evening service. I’ve got everything I need to continue the WIP, but I’m not quite through pouting just yet. ;) Not much to report on the work front today. We took a transfer earlier and I’m hoping I’ll get an update about a pt from last shift. I’ll tell you more about that when I have my computer with me. Well, my fingers are starting to cramp from typing this on my phone (I use my index finger to text instead of my thumbs), so I guess that’s all for now! How is your Sunday afternoon going?

Just stitched the last stitch!!!!!!!!!! This is ‘Cinnamon Heart.’ I changed out DMC 783 to DMC 712 it’s hard to see the 712 against my fabric in this lighting; I promise it’s stitched though! ;).

Progress

My progress thus far. I’m sorry I haven’t posted progress pics the past few days; there just hadn’t been much to report. I’m hoping I can just sit my hind end down and get it finished today!!!!
