Fall mood swings

Case in point: yesterday started out in the 40s and had a high of 56. Today is suppose to be 69 (they had been saying 70s, but it must have dropped). Granted, this is not as big of a swing as the past few weeks, but every time I get excited about over-sized sweatshirts and hoodies, summer reappears! Found this gem on Pinterest. It fits so well! Granted, pretty much all of the awkward yeti comics* do!
 Have a great day!

Only a biology instructor...

Only a biology instructor would be on his way to work, see a dying deer, and think, "Hmmm, I should toss that in the back of my truck and bring him for my morning A&P 2 class to dissect." And so it went. My instructor was sad that the trooper would not let him put the buck down (he would have used an arrow to do less damage to the lungs), but was nonetheless determined to bring Mr. Bucky to school. He ended up showing up about 12 minutes late and surprised us by being glad that we had not already gotten the cats out. He asked how we felt about doing an outside dissection, and stated that he had a deer we could dissect. The only police officer in class asked if he hit a deer on his way in. The instructor said that he had found it on his way. Poor Mr. Bucky was still alive with most, if not all four, of his legs broken, and coyote damage to his back end (poor guy had been being eaten alive).  The instructor took a vote; none of us was feeling it with the cats today, plus he offered a bonus 5 points towards our next exam, so it was pretty much unanimous. He designated an area for us to meet at and then we followed him out a ways onto more wooded school property (different departments watch the populations of various animals and have game cameras scattered over this area- my instructor was a bit disappointed, they had been watching this guy). And then he went through it piece by piece. Well, the parts that were not too damaged.  It was a lot like a medical school class of centuries gone by, only with a deer instead of a stolen human corpse, and the instructor doing the work of the barber-surgeon and talking about what we saw instead of reading a book written in Latin. And it took like 40 minutes instead of 4 days. But still, some similarities existed! He also took the back straps and was quite excited when he found some empty doughnut boxes in his truck left over from one of his son's practices to put them in. This dissection went a lot quicker than the cats do. Probably because the structures are big enough to easily see! All I can say is, only a biology instructor!
I'm at work now. I should be making flash cards to study with before next week's quiz and exam, but writing to youns is a lot more fun! I don't really have any news on the stitching front, except I am really, really itching to start doing some fall stitching! Are any of youns ready for fall stitching?
I did fix the annoying curtains from covering half of the window while open:

IV tourniquets are so versatile!

I also fixed my nail file. Then, I ran out of stuff to fix. :)

Here's some pictures of Smokey wanting to play a game with Kirst and me. We had to set up a board just for him! Not surprisingly, the power pieces were his favorites. Well, that, and Captain Hook and Maleficent. He would push Captain Hook along the board and knock Maleficent (my playing piece) down.

And here are some pictures of the sunset last night:
Technically, this was to the east- the color always starts over there, and then moves to the west.

There really isn't too terribly much else to report. Mom had surgery on her knee last week. They took 80-85% of her meniscus out. She is doing well, but her recovery has been slightly slower than the surgeon had indicated. What have youns been up to lately?
 Happy stitching!

Slothilda has my motto

for this morning! Thankfully I still made it to class on time! We are currently waiting out in the hallway while our instructor sets up our quiz.
 Wish me luck!
