Evening Stitching

I added a buddy for my eyeless, brainless, floating chick. Hopefully they willl keep each other good company through the night! It’s raining now- too bad I didn’t get their umbrella stitched!
Smokey has been quite spoiled by Auntie.

She lets him watch videos on her phone- not that he’s spoiled or anything... 😉
I hope all of you have a good night!

Wonderful Sunday

Today was a truly wonderful day. I finally got to stitch, took a nap, and watched a movie. Not bad for being at work! This was one of those days when stitching just made my heart sing with joy. It had been way too long since I had last stitched!
I made quite a bit of progress:
And here’s a picture of Smokey Kirst sent me:

I hope all of you had a wonderful Sunday! It got pretty busy about 10 minutes after our Day 12 left for the day, but I still can’t complain!
Have a good night!

Almost Free

It’s almost 8 o’clock, which means I’m almost free to leave work! Waking up is still hard though!
Good morning!

Taking a vote

So, how many of you are introverts? And how many of you are extroverts? If you're introverted like me, and stuck working anyway, its hard to see the benefits of quarantines, or "sheltering at home." Aside from the whole, flattening-the-curve-so-healthcare-capabilities-don't-get-overwhelmed-thing. And there not being as many people out and about. Except at Walmart- which is the pretty much the only place I'm going these days beside work, home, and the gas station. But still, I am finding it rather disappointing that I don't get to work from home. Oh well, maybe that will be reality some other time!
As Mom said, Anna's reaction is  Mom and myself, while Elsa's reaction is Dad and Kirst. (Granted, Anna and Elsa's personalities  are opposite of that, which makes it even more funny to me!) As a bonus, here is Olaf:
Are youns getting any extra crafting, movie-watching, or good ol' family time in during all of this social distancing?
 Happy quarantining!

Smokey's New Look

Smokey Bear has gotten a new look recently. I had found one of Daisy's bows that she has not worn yet, and put it on Smokey's collar as a makeshift bow tie. He refused to let any of us remove it. His Aunt Kirstie made him a couple of bow ties, which he loves to show off!

I know that some people are worried or scared about the Corvid 19 going around, while others are just sick of hearing about it and having it affect their lives. If you're like me, you are enjoying looking at all of the funny memes about it and other things.  I've decided to make a point to post something cute (like Smokey) or funny when I post. Sometimes it will be about Corvid 19, sometimes it won't. I think if we keep our sense of humor intact, we will come out of this a lot better than if we just panic or worry all the time. Most of patients here lately are worried that they have it, even the ones that have no symptoms, avoid sick people like a bad day, haven't traveled further than 5 miles since 1989, and have practically barricaded themselves in their house since it the US. Seriously, if their back pain hadn't kept them from sleeping (which is usual for them), they would not have called us.
That said, if I hear something important, I will share it here. And I'm sure I'll have plenty of work stories to tell. But, we still need to laugh as much as possible, and look at the positive side of all of this.
Please take care of yourselves and the people you love! And let me know what you are up to with all of this going on!
 Happy Stitching,

Smokey wants more treats...

Pretty sure cats are better at doing the puppy dog face than dogs, or at least Smokey is!
 Happy Stitching!

New Project

Singing in the Rain by Madame Chantilly
On some king of Aida- oatmeal maybe?
I'm hoping I will work on this some more today. It definitely fits the day. Well, except for the singings part- I'm feeling more like napping in the rain, but that's close enough, right? So far, I've only stitched on it at work. Not really sure why- I'm really enjoying this piece. I might be about to get more time to stitch though. The college I attend has cancelled all in-class lectures and labs. Everything will be online or in some other form. On one hand, I'll save close to 2 hours of driving 4 days a week. On the other hand, I am really enjoying this class, and I don't see any way of learning the lab techniques that I might need on down the road. Everyone but one girl in my class has the attitude of "If I get it and die, I die. It's not like I can keep from dying if its my time." We are a bit of a realistic group, and all are pretty close to my age.
There has been a confirmed case of Corvid 19 in Springfield now. No one in my immediate family is really that worried. We are a bit concerned for the grandparents, but there is no point in panicking over something that might not happen. We are getting concerned for our toilet paper situation though- all the stores are running out, and we had put off grocery shopping back before everyone started panicking. Oops!

It sounds like dispatch has been given new guidelines, at least based on the information they just gave out over the radio on a call another truck is on. Too bad we don't have any guidelines- EMS tends to come up with policies in the middle of the issue occurring, or after the event has already occurred. Granted, I'm optimistic about all of this for my area (which is oddish for me- usually, I adopt an optimistic outlook and attitude, but fully expect and prepare for what would be realistic, and even a bit pessimistic). I'm hopeful that it won't hit too hard here, or at least not until vaccinations are available. I know some parts of the nation are starting to get hit hard though. Here in Missouri really hasn't been too bad yet. In Kansas City, 5 firefighters were quarantined after running a call on an individual that had Corvid 19 and died shortly after they interacted with them. My partner didn't know if they were showing symptoms, or if it was just a precaution. Regardless, I hope all of them are OK. Last I heard, all of the cases here involve people that had recently traveled to other countries. Granted, I really haven't been keeping up on it- I'm tired of constantly hearing about it, and some folks' incorrect assumptions.
Well, I hope that you and yours are healthy, happy, and well stocked in toilet paper! How are things in your area?
Happy Stitching!

For Such a Time as This

Have you ever had a moment in life where you realized that you were there for a reason? In that moment, with that exact set of circumstances, for a specific reason? Like Esther, when she prevents genocide? Well, yesterday I had one of those moments. I was being lazy, lounging about, thinking about how I really should get in the shower. Dad and Kirst were both taking their showers, and I didn't want to be the only stinky one present at home. :) I finally decided to get up, act like an adult, and go take my shower when it happened. The dishwasher kicked on. In that moment, all I could think was "God had me feel lazy for a reason; so that I would be here, in this exact moment, for such a time as this." Pretty sure I felt more like a hero stopping the dishwasher so those two wouldn't have cold showers than I have with anything else!

Life Update

I'm sorry for my spotty posting this year. At first, I kept getting sick, and then my work partner, Cap'n, (the one after Minion) had to quit due to cancer and passed away on January 24th. I needed a chance to deal with everything for a while. Thanks for putting up with me! :)
I'm really hoping the rest of the year continues to progress in a happier direction. What have youns been up to since I last heard from you?

For The First Time In Forever- Car Washing Version

Bumblebee (my car) when I decided to wash her for the first time in months today:

The hose it out! And so's that sponge!
I didn't know they existed anymore!
Who knew we owned a thousand nozzles....?

For months I've roamed these country roads
Why have a car without washing it?
Finally the water is turned on!
There'll be actual real live suds
It'll be totally strange
But wow! Am I so ready for this change!

'Cause for the first time in forever
I'll be washed, I"ll be shiny!
For the first time in forever
I'll be flashy, driving down these roads...
Don't know if I'm elated or flooded
But I'm somewhere in that zone!
'Cause for the first time in forever
I won't be filthy

I can't wait to show everyone!
Wait, what if I meet a Hot Rod?

Tonight, imagine me waxed and all
Fetchingly parked next to the wall
The picture of sophisticated grace...

I suddenly see him parking there
A beautiful Charger, sleek and fair
I wanna stuff some oil in my face

But then we laugh and drive all evening
Which is totally bizarre
Nothing like the life I've led so far!

For the first time in forever
There'll be vrooming, there'll be fun!
For the first time in forever
I could be noticed by someone...
And I know it is totally crazy
To dream I'll get a bath...
But for the first time in forever
At least I've got a chance!

Me, when the lady came to pick up Ginger the Stray:
Don't let them in
Don't let them see
Be the good girl
You always have to be
Conceal
Don't show
The messy house
Make one door open
And everyone will know

(I'm behind on cleaning the house- oops!) :)  In case anyone is having trouble placing the tune, its Bumblebee's version of "For The First Time In Forever" from Frozen.

I hope youns enjoyed my bit of silliness today!
 Happy stitching (and car washing!),
 Emmy
