Finish and New Start!

 Yule Queen is finished!
Sorry for the less than great picture, the lighting at work is sad. Still, she is finished! I really enjoyed this one! I did change at least one of the colors since I didn't have the color or the DMC equivalent. I'm feeling lazy right now, so I'm not going to look up the color change(s). Maybe I will later, maybe not.
Its been busy at work- just not call wise. Got to work, did  the usual morning stuff (Minion is off today), ran a call (frequent flier- he does have legit issues, its just part of the time he isn't having a medical problem, he just wants a road trip. The most boring, anti-fun road trip in the history of ever, but, hey, its the only reason he is currently allowed to leave his house, so there is that.)
We got back from that, told the supervisor and big boss about the brake issues with our truck (a reoccurring issue with our ambulance that does not get fixed in a timely fashion if left up to maintenance alone. Also realized that the bald tires had not been replaced over a week ago like they were suppose to be. I seriously hope no one from work reads this blog, I could be in trouble for saying all of this, despite taking care to not mention the town or service I work at. I'm tired and willing to take a chance in my tired state.  Still, I count you all as friends and feel that it is only fair to explain why I might be kind of short, irritable, and/or frustrated at times.), ate lunch, QAed reports, and then went to the tire shop. We spent around three hours there. I am about as patient as a small child that is hungry and needs to pee in situations like that, so I made sure to bring my new start with me:
I'm using 32 ct natural linen that is whatever brand Hobby Lobby keeps on hand. I changed out the thread for the more cheerful 817. Missouri winters are dark and dismal. I can handle winter weather (particularly if I am at-and get to stay at- home, I like rainy days (unless its a summer day that I was planning/wanting to swim/tan), but I do not like months of dark dreariness. It affects Mom and myself the most. Kirst is in a generally good place as long as she has her critters, but in spite of the comfort I find in the little fuzzies, I still need some sunshine in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tell Mom that we are sunflowers. We need some rain, some food, and a TON of sunshine to truly be our best self. Now if I could just get Missouri weather convinced and sympathetic to this. Anyhow, I digress. Due to the amount of time we spent there (it was justified- we needed 6 tires, back brakes, and a new roter, rotar, whatever- that thingie ma bob), I got 3 motifs done:
Unfortunately, no time was left for my nap, so I'm borderline grumpy now. Again, I am basically a small child in the body of woman that is the height of a small child. Oh, and just to further support my child-like individuality, I also had animal crackers in my sewing bag. And I did not share with the small child that was also waiting at the tire shop. See; a child's snack, and a child's sharing capabilities! Don't worry, she had tic tacs.;)
I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Her Mom cut her off from the tic tacs approximately half way through their wait. Ok, I'm not that heartless. I didn't share because I had actually forgotten that I had tossed them in there. Don't judge me, I'm a work in progress. I'm thinking that I might pop a movie in and still attempt to squeeze a you know what into the day. I'm up for call though, so if I manage to get one in, it will probably be interrupted shortly after its beginning. Oh well, a girl can dream, right?
I hope you have a great day filled with stitching, naps, and everything and everyone you love!
 Happy Stitching!

P.S. I'm sorry about not responding to blog comments. I love reading them, butunless I fire up my laptop like I did today, I can't respond. Usually I respond on my phone or laptop, whichever one I'm using that particular day, but there is some kind of issue with using my phone. Not sure if its the phone, or just Blogger. Anyhow, that is why there might be a delay in me responding to your comment or answering a question.

Progress

This is where I left off last night. I’m really hoping I might get to finish Yule Queen today, but I’m a bit sluggish today, so I’m not sure if it will happen or not. Still, I’m planning on it! I hope you have a great day!

Self Control

.... or rather the lack thereof.
The scene takes place at a Kum & Go at 10 something tonight.
Me: “I need to start making some healthier food choices again  and get back into the groove of exercising a few times a week.”
Also me: “Oh look, doughnuts! And that one has SPRINKLES!!!!!””

Update while the ambulance gets maintenance

Back at work today. I had Saturday off, which was amazing! Especially after the terrible shift on Wednesday. I have to admit, I’m still waiting to find out if there is going to be more backlash at work from an incident on Wednesday. My place of employment,  blueberry muffins looking like chocolate chip muffins, and the weirdos that put raisins in cookies (again, when it looks like chocolate!) are all reasons why I now have trust issues. Oh well, it could be worse. We did get some snow and the roads were icy on Saturday, causing church to be cancelled. Sunday was still super awesome. To be honest, I was needing a day to stay home and rest desperately, and I didn’t realize it until I got it! I also got a ton of stitching done on Yule Queen on Sunday and a bit more yesterday evening. Unfortunately, no pictures right now, my phone is being cranky. It seems like every time I get a cell phone paid off, it starts to have major issues. Anyhow, I’ll try to work on it and see if I can at least temporarily load some pictures onto a post soon. I hope that you are safe, warm, and happy in your Happy Place! Have a great night!
 Happy Stitching!

Government Crackers

So, there are these crackers called Almond Nut-thins. The particular box has “a hint of sea salt.”  Anyhow, Mom comes up to me and asked if I wanted a “nut cracker.”  She then took a bite of hers and decided that a hint of salt, in fact, means no salt. She then glowered at the box and said,”Stupid government regulations.” After one last dignified huff, she walked into the dining room, grabs the salt shaker, and salts the entire box of crackers. She then walked over to me and asked if I wanted a “Nongovernment cracker.”  It’s rarely dull around here!

In honor of today...

So, on my drive into work I gave myself a pep talk about how I could make it great day. I guess  I thought sheet will would be enough. Yeah. About that... a
On my way into work:

Then shortly after arriving at work, I was like:

And then it went to this, figuratively speaking:

I wanted to do this:

And then my coworker brought his puppy by. I would post a pic, but I forgot to ask him if it would be ok. So now, I’m looking at stuff like this:

I hope your day has been better than mine, and that we both have a fantastic tomorrow filled with fat & happy puppies, cuddly kitties, reading, and lots of stitching!!!

Yippee and Uggghhhh

Yesterday was Kirstie’s birthday, so it was a fun day. We ate chinese food, did some shoppping, and had cake and ice cream! Unfortunately, today won’t be such a fun day. Not only is it a work day, but it’s also our mandatory training day. Which means that it will be a looooooonnng day. And then, when the training is over, it won’t even be halfway through the shift.  Uggghhhhhh.
Here’s hoping our training goes swift and well and that you have a much more pleasant day to look forward to!

Yule Queen’s skirt

is finished! I had planned on being in bed 45 min ago, but when I stitch in the evening time tends to get away from me!

I tried simething new tonight; with each stitch I thought of something I was grateful for. It definitely lightened my heart and brought me joy. It’s amazing how easily I forget just how blessed I really am. To be blunt, God spoils me! What are you thankful for? All of youns are definitely at the top of my list!!! Have s great night, sweet dreams, and get plenty of rest!

Today

My apologies for not posting over the last couple of days. I even took pictures last night, but alas, I let time get away from me! Here is my progress on Yule Queen as of last night:

The skirt of her dress is almost finished, and I am super excited!!!

Here are pictures of the critters:

Odd day at work...

Well, it has not been a bad day at work at all! Even the day truck staff is happy! So far, the only call has been after lunch. I chanced a nap even though I was up for call and took a roughly 2 hour long nap! I did wake up at one point, but must have decided that my pillow was not covered in enough drool, so I moved to the opposite end of it and went back to sleep. :-) One of my coworkers, Sunshine, mopped this morning. Usually I have to, and I really didn't want to, so I baked her some brownies as a thank you. She is wanting me to come out of my Batcave (bedroom), so I will keep this brief. I made a bit more progress on Yule Queen since my last post. Here's a new picture:

Minion isn't here today, so I have Yeehaw as my partner (she shouts yeehaw whenever we go over a bump in the road a bit fast). She did my hair this morning while several of us were lounging at the kitchen table. Isn't is cool how she did it?!?

Much fancier than the  plain ole ponytail that I have been doing!
All of us even got to eat lunch together! It was at a little hole in the wall restaurant that I haven't been to before. It was delicious, so I'm planning on taking Mom and Kirst there for sure since they will love the soup! (Dad isn't much of a soup guy.)
So far, one coworker has agreed to take a puppy. Ula says that if I keep showing her pictures, she will probably end up taking one. I have a couple of other maybes that I'm also going to be showing pictures to as well. :) I am nothing if not persistent!
Well, that's all for now. I'm going to go eat a brownie and then hopefully squeeze in some stitching, good Lord willin' and the creeks don't rise!
I hope you have had a great Monday so far, and that the rest of it goes even better!

That was close!

I so most forgot to post today!!!!!!!! That would’ve been terrible!!!!!! It’s been pretty busy. I think that there have been 10 calls collectively today. Our last one was after we had just ordered chicken nuggets at Burger King. It was for a gentleman “about to fall headfirst off of his bed.” So I’m driving to the call holding my ranch and the steering wheel in my left hand and alternating between fries and chicken nuggets with my right hand! Oh, the things we do for food in EMS. Fortunately, fire met us outside and told us we could clear. The gentleman hadn’t fallen, he was just about to. We were super excited, and they just laughed and told us to enjoy our chicken nuggets! :) My partner (not minion) had ate all 10 of hers on the way to call, so her stomach was a bit mad. We decided the peppermint in her Oreo peppermint shake should help. ;)
Here is the last few days progress on Yule Queen:

And this seems fitting for those of us with fallow’s humor, even if it is with our nemesis.

I think it’s time to go to sleep, I just typed emesis (medical word for vomit) instead of nemesis above...
I hope you have a great night!

Plans

I definitely feel much better after a good night’s sleep! I was planning on sleeping late and then trying to get quite a bit of stuff marked off of my to do list and then read and stitch a bit, but now I’m thinking that I’ll switch those around! I did get a little bit of stitching before we went to the Big City. So, here is my new plan for the day:
And this is Smokey’s plan for today:

And Mom’s plan is take down Christmas decorations, so I’ll try to take pictures at some point today.:) I hope you have a wonderful day doing all of the things that you love!
 Happy Stitching and reading,

Lookee there!

She’s right where I left her this yesterday morning! I have officially been awake for over 24 hours straight now. Sorry if my previous post was overly whiny. I’m tired, CP was/I’d tired, and we really was concerned about safety issues. On the upside, I had the cutest patient of the shift, I went through thousands (no joke- literally thousands) of emails, and we made it back safely. Plus, I now have a good reason to not go to Walmart when I ge off work. I hope youns sleep well and have a great day. I will be out for awhile and hope I remember to wake up in time to clock out and go home on time.

Poor Start to the new year...

Well, I am currently on my way to the land of ridiculously far, far away. We are traveling over 177 miles to a hospital with a children's area. On the up side, my pt is absolutely adorable. He is 5 years old, has an ornery smile, and loves to talk. He is keeping me updated on how far away we are by watching the GPS on my phone. He is a huge help :) The poor fellow had been recently released from this hospital, just waaaaaaaayyy earlier than he should have been. He wasn't fully recovered from his pancreatitis and they did not wait for some of his labwork to return to normal. I'm enjoying his company, I just wish it would have been under better circumstances. I'm trying not to laugh; they gave him some pain medication right before left, so his pupils are huge! He has told me about his pets, superheroes, and how he has Batman underwear (I'm wearing my Batman stocking cap right now.). His favorite color is red and black. He really likes the copy of his heartbeat that I printed off of the monitor for him. He is truly a sweet little boy. I think he's starting to get a bit tired though- I've been gradually dimming the lights on him. ;)
Minion went home since a different fellow picked up the remainder of his shift. I'm glad because he would be whining and throwing a tantrum about this trip right now. The bad thing is, my current partner is tired and so am I. I didn't get a chance for a nap earlier with how calls fell and CP (current partner) was at a family function today and only recently returned from traveling for one of his many other jobs. Simply put, this is not the safest trip to be making. I don't make the policies though. I'm just stuck mostly abiding by them. If this would have came in during the day, it wouldn't have been a big deal. Sure, its not ideal, but still not that bad a'tall. But at nighttime, well, fatigue tends to be greater then. And that isn't fair to the cute little fellow strapped to my cot right now. My prayer is that we have a safe, fast, and uneventful trip. I hope youns take care and get plenty of rest.
Wishing all traveling safe travels and those tucked in their own beds sweet dreams,
 Emmy

Happy New Year!

No stitching yet... although that would be the best way to kick off the new year! Instead, I ran a call. Minion is sick now, so a different truck kindly took the first call, but then we caught a transfer from Local Hospital to Big City Hospital. The pt was pretty feisty. He had been diagnosed w/ a heart attack after his blood work came back. Some heart attacks don't show up on the monitor, which is why they look at labs as well. He was also having problems from CHF (congestive heart failure), so they gave him Lasix.... but no Foley catheter. Which can make for a long trip to Big City. One former pt overfilled his urinal that the ER had sent, so the floor was covered in urine. That was not a fun trip! Fortunately, this gentleman was not affected too badly by the Lasix, and was able to take care of that part on his own. He even put the lid back on the urinal,  placed it in a bag, and closed the bag! Definitely one of my favorite pts based on that alone! Ours was the second call of the new year. Things are going well so far. Our call volume was up considerably last year, so a reprieve is nice! May it also continue through the night!
So, I've been reading a lot about folks praying, searching for, and picking a word for the year. I haven't ever done that before, but thought that it would kind of neat to do, at least at the start of the year. And Dayspring has a free quiz to take to help you pick your word. I ended up with "delight," which actually sums up what I've been wanting to work on lately. I feel like I've let my joy take back burner to less important things. I use to notice all of the little things around me and I just haven't been doing that lately. So, I think I'll stick with "delight" as my word for the year, at least for now! I will say that I find it a refreshing change from folks making resolutions. I don't have anything against resolutions, I just feel that if I need to make a change, I should start ASAP, situation allowing. If you are interested in taking the quiz, you can find it here: https://www.dayspring.com/yourwordquiz#/home  So, do you prefer resolutions, a word/theme for the new year, or something else?
Regardless, I hope that this year is filled with more delight ;). wonder, happiness, growth, and stitching than ever before! And, in the wisdom of Smokey, I hope that you make time to put your feet up, relax, and enjoy life today and throughout the year!
(Excuse the jammies please, this was taken the other morning! Cats sleep in the weirdest positions possible!)
Have a great evening!
 Emmy
P.S. I do have an unofficial resolution to blog more frequently this year. Here's hoping it lasts!
